[With a hint of anger, though he's mostly ashamed:]
Oi! The one who needs to be more clear is you! You were the one who mentioned the sword of the body and how it needs to be taken care of! I was just helpin' ou-
[ Katsura shifts around in seat in the bath tub so he is facing Tatsuma now, his face glowing a red color before he takes the bar of soap and crams it in Sakamoto's mouth. ]
The first thing you need to clean is your mouth.
[ He leaves the bar of soap there and pulls back, arms crossing over his chest as his lips curl into a small pout. Look what you did— you're embarrassing him. ]
[Geez... Sakamoto is sent reeling backwards, far enough to hit his head on the edge of the tub. He sputters and then spits, miserably, over the side so that the bar of soap tumbles onto the floor. Gross.
It takes him a few seconds to regain hold of the situation, but when he finally sits up, he notices the color in Zura's cheeks and how the other has averted his eyes. This expression is cute, super cute, and Sakamoto finds himself staring for longer than is appropriate. Mostly because he's surprised.]
Eh? Really?
[There's a beat, a silence between them both, before Sakamoto laughs and pulls his knees to himself.]
H'oh. I thought you said you took care of it! If that's the case, why is it so quick to jump? Haha.
Don't be so embarrassed. Like hell I'm judgin' you!
[ Katsura wants to pick up the soap and shove it up his mouth again like the little fussy thing he is, but Sakamoto is saying some reassuring things that are nice so he isn't quick to be violent again.
Instead, his nose wrinkles and he cranes his head to focus on Sakamoto again, eyes narrowed. It's a very.. warning expression.. like a mother signaling a child not to do something. ]
Not everyone is so loose with things like you are. [ some people are prudes.. like him. His cheeks flare up again before he mutters. ]
[ That's.. an unexpected response from Sakamoto and it causes whatever fury is still lingering inside of him to calm down. Sakamoto can probably see Katsura's face ease back into its stoic state, calm, and not like something that was about to unleash hell any second.
He's happy to see you too, but it's too early for him to say that right after he threw a fit, so he says nothing. He's quiet, and reaches for the shampoo, squeezing some into his hands and slowly starts to lift his arms so he can begin to scrub it into his hair. ]
[Sakamoto simply rests a chin on those knees of his, smiling and continuing to watch Zura. It's clear from his expression that this makes him very, very happy, despite it being something so simple.
Even though he probably shouldn't, he reaches over with one hand, smoothing over a few suds as he tucks a lock of soapy hair behind one of Zura's ears.]
[ Zura isn't even really looking at Sakamoto when he feels his hair being touched and he pauses, casting him a glance. Something about the way Sakamoto was looking at him caused a warmth to fill in his chest— maybe it's cause he isn't certain if anybody has ever really looked at him that way before? It was a little different then any kind of look he has gotten before.
It was similar to the way all four ( technically five ) of them would look at each other so long ago after coming back from the enemy line, still alive. That is what it reminds Katsura of.
[Sakamoto edges closer, the water erupting into tiny little waves as he does. Zura will feel curly, wet hair touch his face as an old comrade gets near enough to blow some of the bubbles from the shampoo onto Zura's cheek.]
[ What is this. Over the past few days, Sakamoto has been so kind and so comforting— now that he is caught in such an intimate situation that would usually be thought of nothing but sharing an important time between friends, he's thinking about all sorts of other things.
Katsura freezes up, wet lashes grimaces a bit as he is blown in the face, though his eyes make contact with Sakamoto's. He is so damn close. ]
Ah. [ .. ]
Did you want to.. be this close to me, Sakamoto..?
[ Is it weird? No, Katsura answers to himself, but it's different. Not like it's exactly a bad thing, but— he doesn't do anything to push or deny Sakamoto away. ( Look, he's being gentle and sweet this time and not just grabbing at his dick cause he misunderstood what was happening. )
It's positive attention, and anybody who knows Katsura knows he likes things like this. It's just.. different since it's coming from Sakamoto. ]
It's close. [ He doesn't say this is good or bad— but for he record, it's a good thing. He feels his throat tighten up— it's difficult for him to swallow. He doesn't show any kidn of affectionate gesture, but what he does do is at least cup the back of Sakamoto's head lightly, possibly to let him know it's okay to be near. ]
[The shiver that travels down his spine at Zura's gentle touch is enough to signal Sakamoto that maybe, just maybe this he's crossing a line that he shouldn't. There's an inkling of something sad in his expression, evident the way his eyes have glossed over ever so slightly. Though he continues to smile, something heavy seems to be tugging at the corners of his lips.
His voice is deeper, but softer too, Sakamoto doesn't speak at this volume very often (if ever).]
We're close, aren't we?
[A dangerous question.
But Zura has always been considered one of Sakamoto's closest friends.]
[ Of course we are is what Katsura wants to say, but he isn't certain. It is a situation he has never thought of being in with Sakamoto. Though, his heart doesn't pull or tug in a way that is making him think it might be wise to not be this intimate with him. Surely that was some kind of sign right there, but up until now, Katsura hadn't the faintest that he was growing fonder and fonder of Sakamoto through the days he had spent with him.
Was it just him trying to place Sakamoto in the puzzle space that Gintoki usually kept filled? That kind of puzzle space was that, anyway— platonic or something romantic?
Did that make it wrong? Could Zura be that selfish? ]
This is closer. [ The way he says that almost makes it feel like a negative thing, but then he holds Tatsuma by the cheek. ]
I like it. [ —the answer is, yes, Katsura can be that selfish. Gintoki was irreplaceable, yes, but he would try to subconsciously cram somebody in the spot that his dear friend used to be in, which was an entirely wrong thing to do. He should know better— but for now, he doesn't. He just wants to be happy. ]
[Maybe it's pathetic, that Sakamoto wouldn't mind.
He knows that he isn't Gintoki, would never try to fill his place, but he'd do just about anything to ease Zura's pain. Whatever they're doing, whatever they're going to do, it's a temporary fix but it's something and still special. After all, it's not like they go about doing this with other men, strangers.
He let's his own hand brush over the one on his cheek, closing his eyes as he admits something terrifying:]
Me too.
Bein' lonely really stinks.
[They both aren't the kind of people who do very well alone, Sakamoto with his reckless gambles and Zura with his constant fear of being left behind, but right now what this man wants is to be loved and to love, not carefully but passionately.]
Y'know, if there's somethin' I'm missin' here... You should let me know.
[ Being lonely really stinks. Fucking tell him about it.
It's been like that all through his life and it's been the hardest feeling for him to run from. People he cares about— they die, they leave, they change. It's something he is so used to by now, he almost expects it from people and that settles him in a bit of insecurity.
Fortunately, Sakamoto has been giving him company, which makes his heart swell and beat from behind his chest. Whatever Katsura is supposed to let Sakamoto know, he doesn't want to admit it. Instead, he looks at Sakamoto sympathetically— he knows that feeling of loneliness— and then goes ahead to make the first move.
His lips meet Tatsuma's softly, not exactly kissing, but speaking against them in a hushed and warm breath: ]
[Sakamoto's insides rejoice at that almost kiss, the acknowledgement that it's okay to take this evening a little farther. He has to be careful, he knows, because he can't be selfish tonight.
He lets his hand caress one side of Zura's face, before uttering:]
I'll make sure.
I'll make sure ya aren't lonely. Not tonight.
[And so he leans forward to press their lips together, resisting the urge to kiss his friend almost violently, because everything has to be gentle at first. Zura doesn't do this with just anyone, he's damaged and in need of some personal attention. If he wasn't in such an emotionally vulnerable state, he would have never agreed to this in the first place.
That's fine, it's okay, because Sakamoto has the chance to make him happy. That's worth all the money in the world, and more than that.]
[ Something about being kissed feels so nice to Katsura-- much better than being the one who is kissing. He allows Sakamoto, almost eagerly himself, as his arms shift completely out of the water again to wrap loosely around Tatsuma's broad shoulders, the edges of his finger tips curling and brushing against his partner's back.
He felt his stomach drop, probably feeling some uncertainty and nervousness. He had never been in a situation like this before-- kissing in the bathtub. Not with Sakamoto or anyone else. He didn't seem to care, though, especially as he leans back, taking his friend with him.
It's kind of slippery and awkward to get comfortable. Sakamoto really has no choice other than letting their bodies flush together to feel right. Katsura has issues getting comfortable, but doesn't dare break off the kiss.
Especially when the tip of his tongue flicks out to skirt across Tatsuma's lips delicately. ]
[The hands on the small of his back remind him of something- This is his first time with a man, is it not? There are callouses on Zura's hands despite how gentle their manner, how long the fingers are, not like the kind you'd typically associate with a woman. Sakamoto is notorious for skirt chasing, but doing this with a friend feels so much more comfortable than with a stranger.
He lets Zura take the lead, following the other's grasp and smiling through the kiss once he feels their bodies press together. All too eagerly, he parts his lips to allow Zura's tongue into his mouth, a rookie mistake. Something's off, the angle isn't right, it's clumsy. Sakamoto has to pull back and laugh before he leans in to try again, kissing the side of the other's mouth before angling the girly samurai's chin in his favor and giving him a real open-mouthed kiss.]
[ Katsura's eyes are fanned shut when Sakamoto pulls back— he's not sure what the problem is and just opens his eyes, blinking owlishly at Sakamoto. Was he acting a bit too forward? He doesn't really know. He figured he wasn't acting too eager, and besides, Sakamoto seems like the type the person who would like that kind of thing anyway.
Zura clears his throat when he hears Sakamoto laugh and shifts his dark eyes elsewhere only to flick them back at Sakamoto when he advances back onto him, right when Sakamoto holds his chin and tilts him. ]
Ah.
[ —is the only sound he makes— a sound of understanding before his friend seals off his mouth with his own. It's a little surprising, at first, but Katsura seems to open his mouth wider in greeting, trailing his nails up Sakamoto's back, across his neck, and eventually into his hair where his hand curls tighter. He's holding onto a fistful of hair now, while the other arm snakes tighter around Sakamoto's middle, mainly to ease himself more securely.
Tatsuma could probably feel his cheeks slowly catching on fire with their faces being so close. ]
[Sakamoto is easily aroused, pulled in by subtle, simple gestures. Perhaps that's why his pockets are empty at the end of almost every evening out on the town, despite seeming so full at the start.
The nails on his back of his neck do awaken certain urges, there's a tingle down the back of his spine and in other unmentionable places. He finds himself wanting more, to know every extent of Zura's touch, to be desired and thought about even when he is elsewhere.
But that's too cruel to wish on someone as lonely as Zura, isn't it? It is.
So he stops thinking about it.]
Don't think I've ever seen ya this red! Have you been drinkin'?
[It's a stupid joke, but he needs to breathe for a moment. He's feeling lightheaded. Whereas his long-haired friend might be hesitant, Sakamoto is all for this. Sex in his daily life typically plays out as a business transaction or a drunken mishap, and sometimes a little of both.
Intimacy is something measured in small doses. A quaint smile between friends, a shared gaze, or even silence in the wake of something grand. This is a whole damn lot of it.]
You're still shy, huh? What's the matter?
[Sakamoto hoists Zura up and further out of the water, pulling the other on top of him. The merchant's back hits the wall of the tub.]
